Thanks to Bill Craighead from Cleveland Home Title, we wanted to make sure our clients are aware of the new changes in how tax prorations will be handled for our seller clients in the coming months.
Due to the county’s significant property tax reassessments and new school levies, the tax hold amount will now be calculated as two times the half-year tax amount, plus the tax proration. These figures will be adjusted once the new tax amounts are posted in January. Any difference will be refunded to your seller after closing.
The county reassessments may result in notable increases in property values, which could impact the overall tax amounts for sellers, so it's important to prepare clients for this potential adjustment.
